Kevin Rush was born in South Bend IN, while his father was earning his PhD at Notre Dame.  In 1964, the family moved to New Jersey and Kevin was given the usual parochial school education, until he won a scholarship to Regis High School in NYC, a Jesuit, all-scholarship, high school for academically talented young men.  After Regis, Kevin went to Haverford College where he majored in English, graduating in 1982.

Returning to New York, Kevin began acting in summer stock productions, earning his Equity card in 1988.  He completed a two-year Meisner Technique program under the tutelage of Edward Moor, late of the Neighborhood Playhouse.  He moved to San Francisco in 1989, where he began to concentrate on writing, while pursuing a teaching career and later attending law school.  He graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1995, but returned to teaching instead of law practice.

Kevin taught at Corpus Christi School in the Excelsior District of San Francisco for seven years and Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, NJ for six years. His experience at Corpus Christi was the backdrop for his 2000 novel for Catholic teens, Earthquake Weather. At Marin Catholic, he primarily taught Religious Studies, and began familiarizing himself with the scriptural, historical and literary sources that planted the seeds for The Lance and the Veil. He also released a comic book based on the humor of Jesus in the Gospels, entitled, Sift the Gnat and Swallow the Camel: the comedy stylings of Jesus Christ.

In 2005, having written extensively and produced his first short film, Kevin moved to Los Angeles to more aggressively market his screen and stage plays, picking up some writing awards and accolades along the way.  His 2007 stage play, Crossing Event Horizon, about a Catholic High School guidance counselor’s midlife crisis was named Best New Play at the Chameleon Theatre Circle’s New Play Festival.

Kevin also returned to acting class, studying Meisner Technique in the Graduate Class at the William Alderson Studio.  He is a member of SAG-AFTRA. In 2010, Kevin moved back to New Jersey to care for his ailing father. He now lives in Kenilworth, NJ. Kevin released The Lance and the Veil: an adventure in the time of Christ, on November 1, 2014.
