New Mission Statement

I know I haven’t written in a long time about my writing, but I’m here to give you some amazing updates.

For the last few weeks I have been revising and finishing Palace of Three Crosses. This hasn’t been easy switching back and forth between and I have sometimes gotten bogged down in the process. This past weekend I was able to gain some perspective and prioritize my process. This focus session will hopefully serve to get me moving and eliminate some confusion.

Anyway here is what I came up with. Drum roll please: Palace of Three Crosses; at least writing the story part will be finished by March 11, 2011. For the time being I have enough edits done that I can continue to take chapters to my critique group without detracting too much from the finishing. So by 3/11/11 I will be totally in the edit and revision stage. My goal would be to have this stage finished by November and then it can follow the path of Twelve Pillars of visiting a copy editor and then publishers.

One small note about Twelve Pillars since you mentioned it: It is still at the copy editors and I have had no news. She did say she would be done by the end of February, so once I see her corrections the plan is to start querying by 3/11/11.

Throughout this process I will be doing ongoing marketing so keep your eyes peeled to the blog for announcements as to progress and maybe some teasers as to what Twelve Pillars is all about.

Now you may be saying what are your plans after March? Well I plan to take the next month and brainstorm a new story so by April 11 I can start writing and have a second one lined up for November.

Which brings me to the other amazing thing that happened this weekend at this focus session: The last several weeks, I have been doing a lot of soul searching and praying. I thought for a while that I wanted to spend some time doing freelance work and even signed up to get freelance job listings. However a conundrum arose as I embarked on this path. While trying to find jobs and come up with writing ideas I began to wonder if I really wanted to take the time away from the writing I was already doing to focus on this. I kept hearing a resounding NO in my head and in my heart. I had to remind myself that I wasn’t in this for the money, although some would be nice and I’m sure it would make my husband and family happy. Instead I write for the glory of God. With this realization came a new mission statement and a refocused purpose to my writing.

For now the rough Mission Statement: (to be improved and fine tuned as time goes on.)
