Time to Listen

The way God got my attention

The word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time. (Jonah 3:1)

Jonah ran away from God the first time. It took a stay in the belly of the whale and a second call from God before Jonah followed God’s will. How many times does God us before we heed Him? Do we even take the time to listen for His word?

God speaks to us in many different ways. For me He has spoken to me in dreams, in songs, in Bible verses.  One of the ways, and I think this rates right up there with the belly of the whale, is my youngest daughter Ana. A late in life baby, born after I had already raised three children. The message, I had become complacent and it was time to stop not listening, not searching, not asking God. Other times like this Lent God is speaking to me through Bible verses and songs. The real trick here, becomes am I listening.
