This Lent: Lord Teach Me to Guard My Words

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the holy Spirit within you whom you have from God and that you are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Sometimes when responding to people I speak too fast. The words that come out are not necessarily the kindest or best thing I can say. If I paused for a moment and let the Holy Spirit fill me, the response would be of God instead of me.

A new prayer for me. Stop, let the Holy Spirit move through me. Let Him guide my every word and action. Lord Jesus my body is your temple. Slow me down and let me see the beauty of your way, the peace in your words, the love in your actions. This I pray through Jesus Christ, our most holy sovereign Lord. Amen
