Book Review: Courageous

Authors: Randy Alcorn

Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick

I  enjoyed this novel, although at times I wondered if it was truly realistic. When I watch my husband and the men he spends time with, I don’t always see them talk about God and their families like these men did. Maybe I’m not seeing my husband in the right light. Anyway, the other problem I had was; in places it seemed choppy and the  story flow was hard to follow Maybe it was because of turning a screenplay into a novel. Not having seen the movie it is hard to make a judgement, but it seems to me that some of the depth of character was missing.

The story was a good one that left me wishing it was a true story,  so I could turn to the mentioned resources for help in my husbands and my journey. This was an inspirational story, and an important book to read, although for the above mentioned reasons fell just a tad short of hitting the mark. That being said the message of this book of the importance of God and fathers is one that needs to be heard and acted on.
