Ruth: The Loving Daughter-in-Law

“I will do whatever you advise,” Ruth replied. (Ruth 3:5)

Read and ponder Ruth 3: 5, 11, 4:13

Ruth listens to and follows the instructions Naomi has given her. Ruth trusted Naomi and she is rewarded for her loyalty when Boaz weds her and they have a child who will be the grandfather of David.

Questions to Ponder:

  1. Am I willing to lovingly listen too and heed the advice of my elders?
  2. Ruth acts out of unselfish love. Would my acts be based in unselfish love or come from a place of self-satisfaction?
  3. Do I respond with a resounding yes to every need that presents itself?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, Make me more like Ruth, willing to listen and heed my elders and extend a helping hand to those in need. Let me see past my own selfish needs to consider others. Amen.

All for the Glory of God,
