Mary: An Example for the Ages

When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him. (Matthew 2:13)

Read and ponder: Matthew 2: 13-16

In a passage, Mary is called upon to leave, the only world has known and move to a foreign country to save the live of Jesus.  Later she returns to her home country and must face her hometown and all the stories and judgments that accompany her hasty exodus.

Questions to Ponder:

  1. Could I so willingly make the sacrifice Mary made for Jesus?

Lord Jesus, make me more like your blessed Mother, Mary. Give me the courage to say, Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word. Luke 1:38 (NAB)

May your Christmas be Blessed with the joy and wonder of the Birth of our Savior and my you find your path out of Egypt and into God’s embrace.

All for the glory of God,
