Hello to She Writers Bloggers Ball Redux

Hi everyone and thanks to Meg for doing this again. Thanks to everyone for stopping by.  I am so excited I finally got my pc back, the only problem it had was a loose wire, go figure. Anyway now I can write with the comfort of my own computer.

Enough about that, now I’ll give you a little update.

Palace of Twelve Pillars: I heard from the copy editor. Sharon has finished the edits and is just typing them back into the document. I should be able to see it soon. I can’t wait to see her suggestions and start on the next phase of my novel and that is submittals. If all goes well with the edits I should still be right on goal for March 15 to start submitting. My baby is almost ready to try it’s wings.

Palace of Three Crosses: The story is basically finished. I am on Chapter 10 of the edit and revision process. So far no major changes, just moving things around a little and adding spice to some of the scenes. So it is still on target too.

Book Three: No title yet, but have the beginnings of the story. Will be absorbing Aaron’s Revenge into the third book and continuing the story of Joachim and Brandan and all the secondary characters that remain alive after the second book.

So I’m still planning on brainstorming and coming up with a new novel idea for November Nano.

Hopefully I will figure out in the next week how to put together a newsletter from my blog and put it out on the 15th of March, but we shall see. First I have to figure out how to do it.

I thought that was the last thing to tell you about, but then I remembered what I have been doing besides my writing for the last couple of weeks. It is writing related so I can share it here. If you remember a few weeks ago I posted my mission statement and talked about wanting to write for middle grade and YA and present them with balanced choices in reading material. Part of the reason for this mission is that I have a 9 year old daughter and I am not completely satisfied with the reading choices for her. This leads me to the last couple of weeks. I volunteered to help my daughters teacher work with the kids on writing projects. So for the last month they have been working on Presidents reports and I have been going in about once a week to help. Through the process I discovered how much help the writing program school-wide needed. Silly me then proceeded to open a can of worms and it looks like I’ll be helping the a few of the teachers at my daughter’s school find a way to  improve the writing and reading skills of the students. So if anyone has any suggestions, I am looking for ideas. Maybe I should clarify little to no cost ideas as we are a small Catholic school.

So as you can see my mission statement has expanded to not just supply middle graders and YA’s with a balanced reading menu, but to also help them develop the skills to write better.

Hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew.

Happy Writing and God Bless,

Chris

  1. Good luck submitting Palace of Twelve Pillars. That’s so exciting. I’m dropping by as part of the blogger ball. I stopped by your blog last time too, so I can’t really say it’s nice to meet you. I’ll say it’s nice to “see” you again.
