Elizabeth: Mother to a Prophet

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard, Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John.” (John 1: 13)

God tells Zechariah and Elizabeth they are going to have a child in their old age.Elizabeth, unlike her predecessor, Sarah, she graciously accepts the news and prepares for the impending birth.

Read and Ponder Luke 1: 13-25

Question to Ponder:

  1. When God finally reveals His plans, do I graciously accept the changes in my life or do I get angry and fight against His plans?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help me to be more likeElizabethso that my faith in you may never waver and the ugly head of jealousy will not appear and destroy the love you have for me. May I willingly share my faith with others even when they appear to have more than I do?

All for the Glory of God,
