Author Blog Challenge: Day 6

Take us through your writing process. Do you keep a regular writing schedule? Do you write on your laptop or longhand? Do you have a favorite place to write? Are you most inspired in the morning, afternoon, evening, or middle of the night?

My writing process is currently a hit or miss proposition. I go to my Dragon’s Lair everyday with the best of intentions only to be lured by television and Facebook. Since my daughter is in school all day I attempt to spend the day at my computer or notebook writing and marketing. I set a goal to write at least 500 words a day, and at least to my estimation rarely accomplish that at least on one project.

I write both longhand and computer. I recently got a new desktop computer and have a tablet when I need to be portable.

My favorite place to write, well there are a couple. First would be my Dragon’s lair. It is the study in my home.

When I lived in Washington I loved to go to a local Starbucks or the wonderful local library. Since returning to Pennsylvania I still am in search of a place to escape too when I am feeling like I need a break from my lair. Please excuse the clutter. I would like to say that that is not the normal look for my lair, but it is the normal look. (Besides I recently moved my daughter’s desk into my lair and still haven’t worked out all my storage.)

As far as a special time to write, I think that depends on what else is going on in my life. I mostly write during the day when my daughter is at school, leaving the evenings free to spend with family. But as she is getting older (14 years-old) she thinks she needs less time with me so at times I find myself writing in the evening.

  1. Christina,
So are you a full-time writer or would you like to be? It seems you’ve written 3 books?
I think it’s great you can write while your daughter is in school. And, of course, you take a laptop to Starbucks. My friend who teaches Freshman s Speech practically lives at Starbucks! Welcome back to PA. That’s where I live, too.
    Amy
